• Major software vendors:

  • Microsoft, IBM, others have all weighed in.
  • Offering competing standards.

• Web Services Interoperability Consortium (WSIC):

  • Industry group formed to manage / promote standards
  • MS, IBM, Oracle, HP, SAP already joined.
  • Sun says it will join soon.

• World-Wide-Web Consortium (W3C):

  • Manages web-related standards.
  • Handles some of the Web Services languages.

• The process is still sorting itself out!
