The OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) Workshop
For many Oracle users, there are two huge motivators for moving to OCI:
First, the adminstration workload for on-prem systems is far greater than that for an equivalent OCI environment. Second, cost. When you compare the pricing of infrastructure plus DB licences in OCI with that for on-prem, you need a very good reason not to go cloud.
And there is one de-motivator: learning to use OCI. At first sight, OCI looks horribly complicated. And indeed it is.
This course will get you over the initial hump, to a point where you can build and administer an OCI environment. The workshop goes through building an entire technology stack for running web applications, from browser to database.
The final architecture (depending on what exercises students choose to complete) will be something like this:
The course is presented in two blocks of four hours. These are lectures, demonstrations, and discussion. Exercises in building the environment will be done out of class, either in the student’s own OCI account or in compartments created in a Skillbuilders OCI account.
