What is Oracle 12c Real Application Security (RAS)

Oracle Database 12c Real Application Security (RAS) is an enterprise authorization solution. It is designed to provide application authorization and data security (VPD) regardless of the access method. i.e. APEX, Java, PHP, Perl, .NET, direct DB etc.

In this tutorial, learn why RAS is the “new VPD” and how it can integrate with APEX for authorization, working with whatever security mechanisms you have in place already: SSO, LDAP, or custom schemes – no problem.  It has Data Redaction functionality too. In this tutorial, Oracle Certified Master DBA John Watson demonstrates what RAS can do and how to configure it.  He also includes a brief demonstration of using RAS to control access in an Oracle APEX application.
