The decision to spend extra money for Oracle Database Enterprise Edition is driven by the need for the powerful features and (extra cost) options available. For example, you may require RAC for High Availability, Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) for security and Partitioning for performance. But what if budget is tight and you need just TDE? This tutorial will describe and demonstrate how it is possible to often save a lot of money on EE licensing and reproduce some or all of unique and powerful Enterprise Edition capabilities in Oracle Database SE2.
