John is an Oracle Certified Master Database Administrator. He is a practitioner, scientist, lecturer and prolific author. John’s experience as a DBA is vast: Production DBA, Design and Deploy, Maintenance (including patches RUs and upgrades), Performance Tuning, SQL Tuning and Cloud Design and Deployments, both AWS and Oracle Cloud (OCI).

John has more than twenty years experience in the Oracle technology stack. He has many years of experience working with user communities, development and support staff, and senior management.

Before joining SkillBuilders, John was an Internal Technical Support Consultant for Oracle Corporation and lecturer throughout Europe and Africa.

John is an expert at evaluating clients’ needs against the capabilities of the Oracle product set, with the objective of minimizing cost and maximizing function through making innovative use of advanced capabilities. John is able to mentor and motivate development staff, and liaise with user communities.

Personally, John lives in a picture-postcard village in England with his wife and numerous cats and a dog. Sometimes he tries to play his electric guitar, so far not very successfully; He’s much better at Argentine Tango and Ballroom dancing.
